The Latest Ultra Short Throw Projectors Launched in India

Ultra short throw projectors are a new breed of projectors that remain close to the screen rather than in the back. An ultra short throw projector would have a projector throw ratio of less than 1. The projector’s throw ratio is the distance from projector to screen compared to the screen size. So, if the projector is placed 12 feet back and casts a projection that fills an 8 foot screen, the projector’s throw would be 1.5:1 or just 1. In comparison, with an ultra short throw projector, one can fill an 8-foot screen from as little as 3.5 feet away. This allows the user to place the projector closer to the screen, and removes the need for lengthy cables, reducing installation time.

Here are some the ultra short throw projectors that were launched in India recently:

Epson EB-1470Ui and EB-700U

Epson recently launched the world’s first 3LCD laser ultra short throw projectors. The EB-1470Ui and EB-700U brings in laser projection technology in ultra short throw projectors. The projector will provide up to 20,000 hours of operation with no maintenance. Both the projectors deliver 4,000 lumens of white and color brightness. The projectors will also provide WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) beyond full HD resolution of 1920x1200 with an aspect ratio of 16:10 for a dynamic viewing experience. Both the projectors are capable of supporting up to 2,500,000: 1 contrast ratio. The projectors also boast of additional features such as auto brightness adjustment, automatic input selection, built-in speaker, digital zoom, direct power on/off, document camera compatible, driverless installation, iProjection App for Chromebook, split-screen-function, remote desktop connection, screen mirroring, whiteboard sharing function and wireless LAN capable.

Optoma LCT100

The latest offering from Optoma in the ultra short throw laser projector segment is LCT100. The LCT100 produces a brightness of 3,000 lumens, offers high contrast ratio, and has a full HD 1080p 100 inch projection from 30cm away from the screen. LCT100 also comes equipped with Puremotion technology that uses sophisticated frame-interpolation technology and advanced motion control processing that eliminates motion blurring even during the high-speed action sequences. The projector also has 10W integrated speakers for powerful speakers.

BenQ W1600UST

The BenQ W1600UST offers 1080p full-HD resolution and a 100 inch ambient light reflection screen. The specialized ambient light reflection screen employs a special zigzag structure that absorbs 93 per cent of environmental light. This allows you to enjoy the projected image/videos without dimming the overhead lights. As for connectivity, W1600UST has multiple HDMI ports, AV inputs and MHL capability.

With an ultra short throw projector, it basically becomes impossible for the audience to trip over cables or to cast shadows onto the screen. The cost of installation is also low, as money is saved on labor and wire installation costs. Ultra short throw projectors can be used by placing them on a table near the screen. On an ending note, although the prices of these projectors are on the higher side, the extensive number of benefits on offer makes them well-worth the investment.
