When television sets first made it into the world, people were all left amazed. At that time, not even the makers of the exquisite talking box could comprehend the importance that these screens would later on hold in human lives.
Much like the TVs, the invention of interactive smartboards or smart screens as we know it, was no small phenomenon either. It, in fact, proved to be a revolution in the educational domain that changed the manner in which we perceived education and learning.
Now as the world of education goes gaga over the new emerging technologies, and schools take to this innovative education-imparting tool; the New Delhi Municipal Council shows no intentions of lagging behind. The council has resolved to include these advanced measures in the primary sections of every NMDC and Navyug school, so that the students here enjoy learning, and benefit from it.
Having already formed smart classrooms in English and Hindi medium sections (for classes 6 to 12) of 30 New Delhi Municipal Council and Navyug schools, in the past academic year, the organization is now determined to do the same in the primary classes too.
According to Naresh Kumar, the Council Chairman, the goal is to introduce smart learning tools into 45 primary schools in the city that cater to a good number of 10,000 students, in the coming academic session, as of now.
The smart classrooms will feature multimedia apparatuses, LEDs, CCTV cameras, interactive smartboard screens and other digital equipment that enhance the teaching-learning experience. These smart boards are essentially whiteboards but interactive, which register user input through touch detection.
These advanced interactive display systems along with their high-end projectors will enable teachers to interact with the subject matter, by writing over it or repositioning it. This will eventually be assisting students in grasping lessons better. The curricula to be taught via these devices will come in the form of high-grade modules.
Besides, the Council is all set to warrant 12 new digital libraries in these schools, thus pushing up their numbers to 25 in the current fiscal year. A lot of state-of-the-art and effectual aspects lie in store for these libraries comprising of all-in-one computers, scanners, bar-code printers, NIC e-library software, high-speed broadband connections, and much more.
As per department officials, the last phase of introduction of smart classes, way back in October 2016, produced highly impressive results. It helped improve the quality of:
• Teaching
• Educational environment
• Attendance
• Administration
• Infrastructure
• Admission
Judging from the outcome, these interactive smartboards can entirely transform the Indian education system for good, in which case, it needs some serious boost. Not to mention, this new technology has made learning increasingly fun and lively for the students.
Introducing a smartboard into a classroom will empower the students within to use and interact with it at the same time. It is further hoped that this change will positively impact the Class 10 and 12 exam outcomes by raising it to a full score in the coming times.
